The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is seeking to recruit a national from its Member Countries to fill the position of Senior Economist (Research) in the Economics Department. The successful candidate will be based at CDB’s Office in St. Michael, Barbados.

CDB is a regional multilateral development bank which was established in October 1969 to contribute to the harmonious economic growth and development of the member countries in the Caribbean Region and to promote economic cooperation and integration among them, having special and urgent regard to the needs of the less-developed members of the Region. CDB began operations in January 1970 and has become a leading catalyst for providing development financing, technical assistance and policy advice to its Borrowing Member Countries for the reduction of poverty.

The Role
Under the guidance of and reporting to the Director, Economics Department, the Senior Economist (Research) is mainly accountable for the Bank’s social and economic research pursuits. This includes identifying, initiating, executing, commissioning and supervising, and disseminating information to advance the work of the Bank in the areas of social and economic development in the Caribbean, either on a stand-alone basis, or in conjunction with other units in the Bank or with external agencies and entities.

The Candidate
Eligible candidates should have:
  1. 1. A first degree in Economics and a post-graduate degree in Economics, Public Finance, Public Policy or a related field.
  2. 2. At least 10 years’ as a professional economist with knowledge or experience in implementing and/or managing research especially in the area of policy development, and/or development projects.
  3. 3. Sound knowledge of the economics of small open economies.
The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Barbados.
