The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is part of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement – the world’s largest independent humanitarian organization. The movement has three parts: the national Societies, the international Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
 
For our programme in Sudan we are looking for a

SRC Country Coordinator
 
to be based in Khartoum, Sudan, with frequent travel to Sennar State
 
Roles and responsibilities:
  • Managing and administering the office of Swiss Red Cross at the Sudanese Red Crescent Society Head Quarters in Khartoum
  • Ensure professional planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the health, WASH and DRR projects in Sennar State
  • Management, supervision and technical support of local staff
  • Plan, oversee and control budgets and transparent finance management
  • Capacity building, coordination and networking with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, other agencies, local authorities and other stakeholders in Sudan
  • Monitoring and assessing the security situation in Khartoum and the project area
  • Design and development of new projects including drafting of all relevant documents in a participative manner with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society
  • Support to Sudanese Red Crescent Society and Swiss Red Cross in disaster assessment and implementation of emergency projects if required.
 
Requirements:
  • Master of Public Health, Management of Health Systems, Water and Sanitation or related technical fields
  • Minimum of 5 years international working experience as manager or coordinator for health and/or WASH projects
  • Demonstrated experience in project and team management, proposal/report writing as well as finance management
  • Diplomacy, tact, team spirit, leadership qualities and negotiation skills are essential
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to adapt to challenging working environments under fragile security conditions
  • Very good written and spoken English is essential (working language)
  • Familiarity with Red Cross Movement is a strong advantage
  • Experience in the region would be an asset.
 
Conditions: 24 months contractwith the option of extension, beginning as soon as possible respectively according agreement. Adequate salary, social insurances, travel and accommodation expenses provided.
