Pacific Programs Internship Opportunity
Based in Head Office
2-3 days per week 9am to 5pm for three months


Role Purpose
To provide support to the Pacific Programs Team at Save the Children Australia
Save the Children require the assistance of a person with general program support within the Pacific Programs team. This internship presents an opportunity for a graduate level student to experience what it’s like to work day-today in a large NGO, and this role adds value to the work of the Pacific Team with the completion of the task list below. The focus of the rolling internships can be more thoroughly defined depending upon the candidate, and aiming to best utilise your skills and develop your interests. The role will be based in East Melbourne and will not involve travel with the team overseas

Key Areas of Accountability

Project management tasks:
  • Supporting Project Managers with donor reporting and case studies (internal and external) 
  • Maintaining up to date data on grants management (AMS) and financial management (Agresso) systems (involving close work with Finance Department) 
  • Support with admin functions for the Pacific Team relevant to mini projects undertaken (working closely with Programs Support team)
Media/communications tasks:
  • Develop social media stories for the Pacific Programs Team (working closely with the Social Media team) 
  • Maintaining up to date country office snapshots for Marketing and Shared Value Department use 
  • Reviewing and updating web content for Pacific programs
Other tasks: 
  • Develop and maintain Pacific Intern Training Manual for subsequent interns coving all areas of the role 
  • Attending relevant departmental, organisational and project team meetings
  • Taking minutes in pacific programs team and International Programs Department meetings and disseminating these within the team 
  • Attendance at the Save the Children after school Refugee/Migrant reading program 1 afternoon per week (Optional)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Positive attitude and strong interest in learning 
  • Ability to communicate & work effectively as a team
  • Willingness to participate in all team activities
  • Organised and reliable
  • Administration and coordination skills 
  • Able to work autonomously
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Currently undertaking Masters in International Development or related field 
  • Some field work experience is desirable (domestic or international) 
  • Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency
