Social Officer /Manager – The Forest Trust (TFT):
TFT
is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to expand our
work, helping our clients in the oil palm industry source and produce
responsible products.
This is a full-time senior position based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The position is open to Malaysian nationals only.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assess clients’ labour standards using TFTs 12 No-Exploitation Principles and Guidelines.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to create strong social management programmes for clients
- In collaboration with clients, implement social guidelines related to human rights (migrant rights), land tenure and land rights, health and safety.
- Formulate training modules, deliver training for implementation of social principles and guidelines
- Work as part of a team to assist clients in upholding social standards within their entities
- Coordinate with relevant organisations (e.g. government authorities, civil society organisations) and consultants on social issues
- Write reports for internal and external audiences on work carried out in relation to social matters
- Prepare concept notes and proposals related to social management work
Education & Work Experience:
- Master or Bachelor degree in related fields (qualified RSPO auditors and those with social audit backgrounds will be favourably considered)
- Minimum four years working experience on rights-based issues
- Wide knowledge and understanding of social and environmental issues related to palm oil production
- Ability to work with businesses on certification issues
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office programmes
Desired qualification (but not essential):
- Social standard auditor certification/accreditation (SA8000, RSPO, FSC, OHSAS 8001)
