Job Description:
The overall purpose of this position is to provide financial management of Government and Private Grants / Private Non-Sponsorship Projects / Sponsorship programs / UN and WFP Programs and Gifts in Kind projects for Commodities and Corporate Donors. The ideal candidate will assist in budget preparation for Grants proposal submissions and provide financial management for the implementation of acquired Grants. The work encompasses financial management of projects to ensure Donor accountability; developing relationships of influence and building field based financial competencies of both World Vision Canada sub-grantees and implementing partners, evaluate and address risks in project accounting and reporting and meet high level of audit requirements both externally and internally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial expertise to Grants Acquisition Management / Program & Policy technical / Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs / Regional teams / National Offices departments and units.
  • Review of National Office (field) & partners' financial reports and consolidate the reports for donors in compliance with grant and donor requirements.
  • Facilitate response(s) to queries from external parties, governmental agencies, auditors and World Vision global partnership.
  • Analyze spending trends and provide feedback to team leaders and field colleagues on areas with significant variances.
  • Reconcile Grant project information in different databases/applications such as Sun Systems, PBAS, TM1, Horizon 3.0, JD Edwards to ensure integrity of data.
  • Participate in annual and long term World Vision Canada project budgeting and periodic budget projection processes.
  • Ability to travel internationally (periodically) to grants implementing countries for financial data reviews, financial training and capacity building, present at workshops on overall project financial monitoring and management.
  • Travel may include fragile context countries.
Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge or understanding of financial management of international development work
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven problem solving in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • English is required (French language is an added advantage)
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
  • Knowledge of JD Ewards is an added advantage
  • University degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years finance related work experience; Accounting designation preferred
  • Financial management experience within World Vision partnership or in an International Non-Profit Organization (especially in developing countries) would be considered a strong asset
