Short Term Technical Assistant (STTA) Graphic Designer

Background
DAI seeks a Short Term Technical Assistant (STTA) of Graphic Designer for a 5-year, $19 million USAID funded “Adaptasi Perubahan Iklim dan Ketangguhan (APIK)” Project. The purpose of APIK is to support the Government of Indonesia to strengthen climate and disaster resilience, working in an integrated manner from the national level down to the community level. APIK will help to mainstream climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction into national and sub-national governance frameworks, build the capacity of local communities and the private sector to address climate change and weather-related natural hazards, and support the use of information for climate and disaster risk management among key stakeholders.

The location for this position is Jakarta, Indonesia.

Summary of Primary Duties
The Graphic Designer will be in charge in helping promote and raise awareness on climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR) through communication materials. The STTA will work mainly with Communication, Outreach, and Knowledge Management Specialist (COKM) to design and produce illustration, infographic, visual aid, and layout various publications to help convey message on USAID APIK’s works related to CCA/ DRR issues. The candidate for STTA Graphic Designer should have a strong background in visual communication design or graphic design with understanding on United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Branding and Marking ADS 320 and Graphic Standards Manual and Partner Co-Branding Guide.

Essential Duties
  • Create visual communication materials for program and campaign purposes such as illustrations, infographics, brochure, poster, materials for event/ activities, social media contents, etc.
  • Layout and finalize project’s publications such as report, book, module, etc. 
  • Complete each design assignment according specified deadline. 
  • Support Communication, Outreach, and Knowledge Management Specialist and provide detailed specification for production of communication materials.

Qualifications
  • Individual/ personal services.
  • Degree in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, or other visual communication related area.
  • Proven proficient skills in design and desktop publishing software such as Adobe CC (CS) Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Corel Draw, etc.
  • Proven strong skills to effectively convey messages through graphic and visual means.
  • Three years of experience in graphic design, preferably if had experience working on USAID-funded project.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of USAID’s Branding and Marking ADS 320 and Graphic Standards Manual and Partner Co-Branding Guide.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and submit deliverables of each assignment within tight and enforced deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Demonstrate attention to details and proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of and passion in development issues is an asset.

  • Graphic Designer will report to Communication, Outreach, and Knowledge Management Specialist.
