About the role
The Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Rural Economic Development (AIP-Rural) is a suite of programs focussed on market-based development aimed at improving farmer's competitiveness and access to new markets, better inputs, know-how and technology. AIP-Rural comprises four programs - PRISMA, SAFIRA, TIRTA and ARISA - which all use the same market development approach, known as Making Markets Work for the Poor, or M4P.

Responsibilities
Working under the oversight of the General Manager AIP-Rural (GM), the Deputy General Manager AIP-Rural (DGM) will be expected to:
  • Oversee the implementation of cross-project services (Results Measurement, Gender and Social Inclusion, Capacity Building (RML), Operations and Finance (O&F), Management Information System (MIS), and Communications (COM));
  • Manage selected parts (sub-portfolio; to be agreed upon between GM and DGM) of the portfolio of AIP-Rural, working closely with the responsible Team Leaders (TL) and/or Heads of Portfolio (HoP); lead and manage the teams of the sub-portfolio; maintain an appropriate businesslike, entrepreneurial, dynamic and lesson-learning culture across the whole team and be responsible for ensuring overall team cohesion and effectiveness;
  • Actively promote the emergence of a joint corporate culture and team coherence among all AIP-Rural projects;
  • Identify strategic opportunities and challenges facing AIP-Rural projects at all levels;
  • Ensure that the results measurement system of AIP-Rural is in accordance with the DCED standard and serves management needs on all levels;
  • In absence of the TL, chair the AIP-Rural Core Management Team (CMT);
  • Directly manage the Head of RML, the Head of O&F; the COM Manager and staff related to the MIS;
  • Support the GM in being the central point of day-to-day communication with DFAT on AIP-Rural (ex ARISA).

Skills & Experience
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience and relevant academic qualification in market development;
  • Demonstrated Team Leadership skills managing multiple complex projects;
  • Demonstrated Design and management experience of gender sand social inclusion interventions in market development;
  • Previous experience managing donor-funded programs with Economic Growth component in SE-Asia/Indonesia
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with DFAT systems and requirements
  • Fluency in speaking and reading in Bahasa Indonesia
