Joint Nature Conservation Committee Job Vacancy: Biodiversity Data Specialist - England, East Anglia

As statutory advisor on nature conservation to the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations, JNCC are looking to fill two full time Biodiversity Data Specialist posts based in Peterborough, a Permanent Appointment and a Fixed Term Appointment until 31 December 2017.

The post will be part of the Data Services Team, but will work across JNCC’s other teams: developing user requirements, advising on technical solutions, and delivering an agreed solution to a specified deadline. The post holder will have a strong background in data management and manipulation and employ good project management skills. The post will be responsible for the management of business critical databases and data processes, but will also contribute to the development of innovative technical solutions to improve efficiency.

The position requires strong data management and manipulation skills and experience of using data management and translation tools such as databases, GIS, FME, R, Python. Ideally the post holder will have experience of using Open Source software.
