Abt Associates Job Vacancy: Field Coordinator, Lombok Island - Indonesian

Abt Associates has been selected by the Millennium Challenge Account-Indonesia to implement the one-year Participatory Mapping and Planning (PMaP) 6 project. Through this project Abt Associates will help over 300 rural villages in fifteen districts throughout the country to delineate and demarcate their boundaries and map their resources to attract future investment in areas that will improve rural livelihoods in an environmentally sustainable manner. In this project, Abt Associates and its team of Indonesian specialists and subcontractors will implement the 21-step Village Boundary Setting/Resource Management (VBS/RM) methodology in collaboration with local communities and government through a participatory process.

Abt Associates intends to hire two field coordinators to support and oversee work in assigned areas of NTB. Field Coordinators will work with senior project management and technical staff in Jakarta and support and supervise field teams that will be directly working with village participatory teams and local government. The position requires a six-month posting commitment at an assigned remote site and extensive travel within assigned region. Living and quarter’s allowance will be provided by the project.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate with the VBS/RM team leaders of the Kecamatan Technical Working Teams;
  • Liaise between the Jakarta-based core technical team, Roaming Field Technical team,  and Kecamatan Technical Working Teams;
  • Monitor progress, ensure compliance, and direct technical support as required by Kecamatan Technical Working Teams; 
  • Coordinate closely with relevant government agencies of the selected district and the Office of Sub-district Head. 
  • Coordinate directly with the Chief of Party, Compliance and Monitoring Specialist, Field Coordinators, and other personnel in the planning, coordinating, and implementation of field work, data processing, and preparation of reports and presentation; 
  • Report on implementation progress on a weekly basis to ensure transparency and coordination across program activities;
  • Prepare data and materials related to the fieldwork for use in technical reports and presentations, including editing and translation of key pieces of documentation; 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Academic degree in natural resource management, forestry, community development, geography, geodetic engineering or related field; 
  • Five years of experience working on community based development projects; 
  • Demonstrated skill in management and coordination of field projects in disparate locations 
  • Experience with communication, coordination, and interaction with local government and community representatives; 
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience in writing reports in Indonesian is mandatory. Experience in writing reports in English is an advantage.
  • Six month posting commitment in NTB; Lombok Island.  Extensive travel within assigned region is required.
