Swisscontact International Job Vacancy: Project Officer Training - North Kolaka

The Swisscontact Sustainable Indonesian Patchouli Production Program is currently accepting applications for the position of:
PROJECT OFFICER TRAINING, Based in Kolaka Utara (Job Code: POTSIPP)
The PO Training will be responsible for grower selection and training in Good Agriculture Practice, Good Nutrition Practice and Good Financial Practice. Recipients of training will be patchouli growers and their families.  Curriculum and materials will be provided by Swisscontact, and the PO Training will lead the adjustment of these materials. Training will be delivered using the farmer field school methodology directly in fields and cultivation areas, and the PO Training will be the exclusive trainer. Base line, participation and post line data will be collected by PO Training (along with the rest of the program team) through cloud-based traceability software.
Task, Authority and Responsibility
Good Agriculture Practice:
  • Community Relations: socializing the project and developing a network of growers willing to participate in training activities and data collection;
  • Training: Providing training in GAP directly with 800 growers in their fields. Using the provided materials and adapting them to grower needs. Looking for innovative methodology for increasing yield and fighting disease and pests;
  • Sustainable fuel wood plantation: Supporting growers to look for opportunities to maintain fuel wood plantations and promote sustainable patchouli distillation;
Good Nutrition Practice:
  • Community Relations: Reaching out beyond the GAP participants to include families (mainly women);
  • Curriculum: Adopting the Swisscontact manual for use by patchouli growers;
  • Training: Providing training for 800 grower families in GNP and planting 80 home gardens;
  • Sanitation: Adopting the curriculum to include basic village sanitation when the program shifts to Buton Island.
Good Financial Practice:
  • Community Relations: Working to engage the same participants from the GNP cycle;
  • Curriculum: Adopting the Swisscontact manual for use by patchouli growers to improve their home finance abilities;
  • Training: Providing training for 800 grower families in GFP.
Data Collection
  • Collecting base-line, training participation and post-line for all growers involved in the program via tablet from the field;
  • Submitting monthly activity reports;
  • Providing spending reports for each activity.
Employee Requirements
  • University Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years in project implementation for an NGO or relevant business
  • Experience in agricultural farmer field school methodology / patchouli experience preferred
  • Experienced trainer with ability to develop curriculum
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with local community
  • Experience report writing in Bahasa Indonesia and English
  • Experience with agro-forestry programs
  • Knowledge of patchouli cultivation
  • Comfortable with technology and adoption of new programs and applications
  • Comfortable working in the field, establishing relationships with farmers/ producers
  • Ability to work legally in Indonesia
  • Excellent communication skills in English: (written and spoken)
  • Native spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia and expert knowledge of Indonesian government structure on local, provincial and national levels
  • Strong coordination/ team cooperation skills
  • Active communicator
  • High level of integrity
