The ICRC Regional Delegation in Jakarta seek to fill the following position:
Prehospital Emergency Care specialist, 100%
Resident position
Job purpose
  • Develops and strengthens local emergency response capacities.  S/he works to ensure that emergency responders are confident and skilled, act safely and in accordance with humanitarian values and principles, and are part of an emergency response mechanism system that is adapted to local needs and realities.
Main responsibilities
  • Develops an overall understanding of the emergency care system, the needs and response, from the scene of emergency to the referral points for further care in Indonesia.
  • Develops and strengthens local emergency response capacities.
  • Supports and coaches ICRC and non-ICRC staff involved in managing and delivering first aid and prehospital emergency responses.
  • Fosters constructive working relationships and capacity strengthening amongst local emergency response stakeholders (local authorities and the Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI).
  • Promotes and consolidates  security management approaches and tools, based on the Safe Access Framework and Health Care in Danger recommendations.
  • Reinforcing the emergency preparedness and response capacity of the stakeholders concerned.
  • Contextualize and introduces guidelines and other reference material (on education, operations).
  • Externally, interacts with organizations/entities, such as Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI), Ministry of Health, TNI, Police, BNPB, hospital and emergency services (including ambulances), NGO’s and UN agencies.
Selection requirements and experience
  • Preferably a Bachelor degree in medicine/Public Health, Diploma in Nurse School or other. relevant health field with qualification(s) in emergency care (minimum 3 years).
  • Technical experience in training, health, capacity building and organisational development, brokering/networking, project cycle management and results-based management (minimum 3 years).
  • Previous voluntary service experience.
  • Experience within the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement an asset.
  • Familiarity with working in fragile environments during emergency situations an asset.
  • Significant experience in first aid/prehospital emergency services, preferably with managerial responsibilities.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong capacity to work independently.
