Care International Job Vacancy: Program Director - PNG Mainland, Goroka, Papua New Guinea

CARE is a leading international humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in implementing the CARE International (CI) PNG strategy and mobilising resources for CI PNG’s mainland programs.

You will identify new project opportunities and develop funding concepts and proposals ensuring sound evidence of project results on the PNG mainland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a cohesive, focused and effective program on the PNG Mainland
  • Identify funding opportunities for the CI PNG Mainland and Bougainville long-term programs
  • Liaise and develop networks with government, non-government, partners and donors
  • Develop and manage new program and project concepts, designs and proposals
  • Provide the Country Director with accurate and up to date advice of developments and issues in program and project implementation
  • Ensure appropriate representation of CI PNG in programming, policy coordination and information sharing forums
  • Lead senior managers in identifying, designing and implementing appropriate training and effective coaching and mentoring strategies for programming staff
Ideally you will have

  • Extensive strategic and operational experience, preferably with an international NGO
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current best practice development approaches, tools and methodologies and extensive experience in project design and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex and diverse stakeholder relationships
  • Well-developed skills in leadership and people management and the demonstrated experience in building capacity
  • Excellent ability to transfer skills to national counterpart(s) to promote national leadership
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to develop harmonious teams in a cross cultural context
  • Demonstrated expertise in fundraising and preparing successful project proposals
