About our organization
The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as ICRAF) in Southeast Asia is the region’s leading agroforestry research-in-development organization which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.

The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and research is conducted in 34 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We are supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research(CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.

About the position
The Programme Management Unit Leader will lead the seamless Programme Management Unit team to effectively deliver their roles in bridging the Research Themes with the Management Support Unit, communicating research findings and impacts for outreach, and managing resource mobilization and research activities to effectively use the resources with high accountability.

Requirements

  • Advanced education in Natural Resource Management or other wise strong experiences in research management, particularly in Natural Resource Management;
  • Strong experiences in developing public-private partnership in NRM and in managing sufficiently large projects in NRM;
  • Broad networks in Forestry, Environment, Development Planning and other related issues;
  • Key skills should include excellent project management, strong leadership, analytical and interpersonal skill, English written and verbal communication, coordination and collaboration skills, and capacity to manage self, and navigate ambiguity;
  • Experience in resource mobilization with proven track records;
  • Understanding in budgeting and financial management;
  • Capacity to apply critical and strategic thinking, synthesize various viewpoints, work collaboratively and manage team to achieve both long-and short-term objectives.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in both profit and non-profit institution.
Personal Competencies

  • Well organized and proven ability to set and meet deadlines;
  • Ability of setting priorities and working under pressure;
  • Ability of multitasking and managing several activities simultaneously;
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Indonesian; 
  • Knowledge of Ms office suite and other accounting and programme management software as well as ICT tools as imperative; 
  • Willingness to learn new skills/knowledge and develop new networks related to the scope/content of the specified projects;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
  • Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Ability to conceptualize and analyse condition to identify key issues, underlying problems, and possible solutions.
  • Ability to generate creative, practical approaches to overcome challenging situations. 
  • Ability to devise new systems and processes,and modifies existing ones, to develop innovative behaviours.
