conviction, by encouraging self-reliance through development, providing
social care and assisting in emergency situations. To facilitate the
growth of our disaster management programme worldwide, Dorcas is looking
for an experienced:
Programme Officer Iraq
Employment: 1.0 FTE
To be stationed in Dohuk, Kurdistan Region of Iraq
The Programme Officer will lead projects and assist the Country Director in developing and implementing relief projects in Iraq.
The Programme Officer will be responsible for:
- Implementation of specific relief projects in the Shelter, NFI, WASH and/or Health sector. This will be done in urban IDP settlements as well as IDP camps, both in relief and recovery settings;
- Assisting the Country Representative in setting up and managing relief and recovery programmes according to Dorcas policies, Humanitarian standards, UN working group standards and donor requirements;
- Managing, training and coaching of the local staff in the projects;
- A key role in logistic, financial and administrative management of the relief programmes implemented by Dorcas and its local partners;
- Developing new programmes and proposals for institutional donors;
- Timely submission of reports to the headquarters and institutional donors according their requirements;
- Providing technical advice and support to field staff and partner organisations;
- Represent Dorcas at the UN-cluster meetings and report to these clusters;
- Networking with relevant donors, government institutions and other stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
- Only applicants with a EU nationality are invited to apply for this position;
- BSc or MA/Msc degree in a field related to Humanitarian Aid;
- Expert in disaster management and knowledge of humanitarian principles and standards;
- Experience with raising funds and managing projects funded by Institutional Donors;
- Minimum of 2 years relevant field experience and experience with project cycle management;
- Proactive attitude, flexible personality, strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Adherence to the mission and vision of Dorcas;
- Active membership in a local church;
- Fluent command of English and preferably Dutch;
- Ability to travel and to work in a cross-cultural environment.
