OIC - The Cambodia Project Job Vacancy: Media Coordinator, Australia

OIC: The Cambodia Project is an initiative working to establish speech therapy in Cambodia for people with communication and swallowing disabilities.

We launched in 2013 in partnership with CABDICO, a Cambodian disability organisation, to start the country's first program in bringing speech therapy to Cambodia for the more than 600,000 people with communication and swallowing disabilities.

We have four priority areas of work:
  • We will establish the first university course in speech therapy in Cambodia by 2020, to train the first generation of Cambodian speech therapists.
  • We will ensure jobs for these graduates are created, both in the private and public sector.
  • We will raise awareness amongst all levels of community and government, as speech therapy is an entirely new concept in Cambodia.
  • We will influence government policy, to ensure local ownership of the solution.
Over the last two years we have helped more than 100 children and have accomplished a number of key goals including piloting Cambodia's first independently evaluated speech therapy training program.

We have a 14-year strategy from 2017 to 2030, that will ensure speech therapy is led by Cambodians and available to all who need it in Cambodia. Our end goal is 100 speech therapists employed by government by 2030, after which OIC will exit the country and government will take over.
