Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Pricing Specialist is in a position that actively contributes to the strategic future of RI. The Pricing Specialist participates in the analysis of Requests for Proposals from US, UK and EU government donors, foundation and commercial entities for the purpose of identifying risks, trends and deviations from the norm, for engaging, in a leadership role, in the development of a strategic, fully-compliant business proposal, and for developing and maintaining a knowledge base of strategic pricing information and methodologies. This individual will also be responsible for ensuring that pricing activities are implemented in close coordination with the regional and country strategies of the organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Lead the effort to perform a competitive analysis of the opportunity and to develop a winning pricing strategy/approach for complex, multi-million dollar opportunities;
  • Develop and work with models to support cost proposals - Prepare appropriate pricing templates utilizing Microsoft Excel that provide effective pricing direction and advice to internal staff and external partners.
  • Develop and edit cost volume narratives
  • Assume ownership of the price model, price volume and other pricing deliverables for assigned bids
  • Research cost proposal elements used in the development of cost proposals - Determine optimal price points for bid and conduct price-to-win analysis; Review all pricing data submitted by staff and external entities for value, accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Ensure required cost proposal schedules and supporting documents are prepared timely, accurately and are in compliance with solicitation. Ensure pricing narratives, ground rules and assumptions are applicable, complete and professionally communicated.
  • Assess competitor bid position and price strategy
  • Coordinate directly with Prime, Subcontractor or other teammates in support of bid efforts
  • Collect competitive intelligence through multiple open source techniques and statistical modeling
  • Remain current on pricing trends and donor regulations
  • Present cost/price strategies to senior leadership
  • Work closely with Proposal Team and other departments
  • Performs other financial analysis duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
We are seeking a self-motivated, experienced, and entrepreneurial individual with the ability and drive to impact a range of pursuits from tactical-level opportunities to company-wide strategies across our dynamic and expanding organization. Our preferred candidate should meet the following qualifications:
  • Must have thorough knowledge of USG grants, DFiD; EU; UN and private donor landscape
  • Five (5) years plus of professional experience in the NGO developmental sector, to include pricing /accounting / P&L / business development for offices across the globe
  • Knowledge and experience with all contract types/vehicles, to include IDIQ, RFPs, and fixed price, cost reimbursable, and cost plus requirements
  • Possess and display high ethical and business standards
  • Extensive experience developing and modeling pricing for complex proposals
  • Demonstrated ability to develop basis of estimates necessary for detailed audits
  • Ability to assist development of organization and region’s 1-5 year strategic financial targets through basis of estimate and price modeling of revenue and profitability on future bids
  • Ability to develop and maintain databases on price competition, donor procurement tendencies, and market drivers
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Business, Finance or Accounting; M.B.A. is a plus
  • Competent in all MS Office operations (MS Word, Power Point) with expert level of Excel proficiency is required.
