Office of Communications:
The UNU Office of Communications (OC) at UNU Centre in Tokyo implements and oversees the University’s communications strategy, including web, visual identity, branding, media relations, and content development/delivery in English and Japanese. The OC works in close collaboration with communications focal points across the University’s global network of institutes and programmes to best articulate and meet UNU communications goals.

The OC is looking for a short-term Communications Assistant to help with the development of workflows related to data analysis revolving around social media and web platforms, marketing and promotion of content, and automated reporting of analyses of these areas. The assistant will also participate in the creation and execution of social media campaigns and assist with the general documentation of office workflows and processes.

Responsibilities:
Working under the supervision of the Head of Communications, the successful candidate will:
  • Develop interactive data visualisations
  • Analyse social media networks to determine influencer patterns, groups, and trends
  • Assist in the development of reports generated through data analysis
  • Create workflow methodologies for document development using adobe indesign
  • Assist with the development and running of social media campaigns
  • Assist with the analysis of social media and media campaign results and xml feeds from a variety of sources
  • Prepare supporting documentation regarding technical workflows and methodologies
  • Develop strategies for delivering data analysis results, in a customised form to a large list of recipients
  • Document workflows and strategies for the sharing of social media packs
  • Perform other office of communications duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Required qualifications and experience
Qualifications and experience include:
  • A bachelor’s degree (in english, communications, or a related field)
  • Outstanding english communications skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, and the capability to produce high-quality work within a short deadline
  • A working knowledge of data analysis and visualisation tools, such as tableau professional, nodexl, and google analytics; data markup and extraction tools, such as xml and json; as well as adobe indesign and salesforce 
  • Proficiency In The Use Of Excel
Remuneration:
  • Remuneration will commensurate with qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
  • Duration of contract
  • The successful candidate shall work on the above tasks in the Office of Communications (at UNU Centre in Tokyo) under a full-time Consultant Contract (CTC) for a fixed period of four (4) months. No consultant shall provide services to UNU for more than twenty-four (24) months in a thirty-six (36) month period.
  • The successful candidate will not hold international civil servant status nor is he/she a “staff member” as defined in the United Nations Staff Rules and Regulations.
  • Please note that this is a local hire. The successful candidate must reside within commuting distance of UNU Centre and, if not a Japanese national, be in possession of a visa that permits full-time employment for the duration of the contract.
