Subject to the donor approval, the post is to be filled by 1 November 2016 with an initial contract duration until 31 March 2019. The office is located in Niamey, Niger with regular field visits to the Diffa Region.

Objectives and responsibilities of the position
The Head of Project is responsible for the implementation of a consortium project in the Diffa Region in which the German NGO Help has the lead.

Your most important duties are as follows:
  • Recruitment and management of the Welthungerhilfe project team
  • In collaboration with Help, ensure proper implementation of the project in accordance with the approved concept; supporting evidence for attained outcome and impact
  • Supervise the financial and administrative management of the Welthungerhilfe project part
  • Supervision of all activities in the field, in particular as regards horticultural and vegetable production, including capacity building
  • Accompany the adoption of LMMS
  • Prepare regular and timely narrative and financial reports according to the donor regulations
Your qualifications will include:
  • Relevant university or polytechnic degree, e.g. in the field of agricultural economics
  • Several years of project and management experience in carrying out co-financed projects of international (aid) agencies, preferably in the region
  • Experience with growing vegetables in semi-arid areas
  • Experience with CfW
  • Good knowledge of LMMS and experience with M&E
  • Experience with working in a volatile security environment and willingness to regularly travel to the project region Diffa
  • Cooperation skills and ability to work in a team, strong communication skills
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills
  • A very good command of both written and spoken French and German
