GIZ - AGEP Project Job Vacancy: Communications & Public Relations Advisor, Jakarta - Indonesian

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German public-benefit federal enterprise. GIZ works worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and has over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including renewable energy in Southeast Asia and ASEAN region. The cooperation between ASEAN and Germany focusses in the fields of climate change and environment, regional economic integration as well as institutional capacity development.

In the energy sector, GIZ supports the introduction and deployment of renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) in the partner region through methodological approach, technical and financial competence and enable partner organizations to move towards a sustainable energy supply using their own potential.

The ASEAN-German Energy Programme (AGEP) is commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented jointly by GIZ and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). The overall objective of the AGEP is to support ASEAN Member States in regional coordination for the promotion of RE and EE through various measures such as improving framework conditions for implementation of RE and EE, improve regional technical exchange between relevant institutions and actors. AGEP is based at ACE office in Jakarta, Indonesia.

GIZ is seeking one qualified Indonesian candidate for the following position:

Communications and Public Relations Advisor

General Responsibilities, but is not limited to:
  • Dealing with the communications and public relations related matters within AGEP
  • Managing knowledge management of the AGEP
  • Managing information and knowledge dissemination within AGEP, GIZ projects and with relevant stakeholders
  • Act as focal point for the Communications Team of the GIZ Office Indonesia, ASEAN and Timor-Leste
  • Assist with the development and dissemination of information and knowledge related to the projects in the ASEAN cluster, for different partners and purposes – in accordance with the GIZ corporate communications policy and action plan
  • Ensuring linguistic quality for projects and partner documents in English/Bahasa Indonesia, including managing reports editing
Tasks

Managing communication and public relations related matters for AGEP
  • Developing and implementing communication and PR strategy of AGEP together with communication officer of ACE;
  • Representing AGEP in GIZ and other relevant communication focal points;
  • Working together with communication officer of ACE in fostering communication products coherence and consistency within AGEP;
  • Synergising communication and PR activities among regional stakeholders of AGEP;
  • Providing advice to Principal Advisor on communication and PR related matters;
  • Actively gathering information about the project activities e.g. through interviewing advisors and issuing articles and short summaries ready to be published;
  • Managing international and national PR work together with communication officer of ACE, which include:
    • Developing and implementing suitable communication tools for national, regional and international dissemination of information
    • Coordinating necessary processes to produce publications and materials in accordance with GIZ and ACE standards
    • Supporting the organisation of events (workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.)
  • Managing social media and online platforms of AGEP in close coordination with ACE that include:
    • Maintaining content and updates of social media and online platforms
    • Monitoring outreach process and result of social media and online platforms
    • Reporting outreach result to Principal Advisor
  • Managing press related work, which include:
    • Ensuring media relations together with ACE Communication Officer
    • Coordinating all media activities (drafting and sending out press releases, compiling assembling and distributing media information materials for specific target groups and coordinating with ACE Communication Officer regarding PR)
  • Reporting to the Principal Advisor of AGEP.
Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications
  • BA/MA or comparable qualification, journalism, PR/communications or comparable
Professional experience
  • At least 6 years professional experience in a comparable position
  • Essential: communications, public relations
  • Desirable: knowledge on renewable energy/energy efficiency 
Other knowledge, additional competences
  • Proficiency in the Indonesian and English language (reading and writing)
  • Presentation and writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both Indonesian and English
  • Excellent command of MS – Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Fluent language skills in English
  • Willingness to up skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
