IsraAID is a non-profit, non-governmental and apolitical humanitarian aid agency dedicated to supporting populations in crisis around the world. Founded in 2001, IsraAID has worked in emergency and long-term development settings in 52 countries. IsraAID’s vision is to build a world in which individuals, communities, and institutions have the resilience to navigate today’s crises, withstand tomorrow’s, and live sustainably. Today, its operations span across several sectors of expertise from both the humanitarian aid and international development arenas, including protection, education, WASH, health, and livelihoods, working on sustainable solutions for disaster risk reduction and response. IsraAID has been operating in the Bahamas since September 5th, 2019, after the island was severely affected by Hurricane Dorian, supporting the recovery of communities across the islands.


The Finance Manager directly oversees all financial and accounting activities and all finance administrative activities and reporting in the country offices; supports frontline field finance staff and the country office finance team through direct oversight of all financial mechanisms, finance-related trainings, and financial reporting across the mission. The Manager also ensures quality service delivery of supporting financial elements to field- and country-level departments.

  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management, including preparation of budgets
  • Ensure adherence to the annual budget of the country program and specific donor budgets
  • Assist with the preparation of project budgets
  • Suggests formats for financial reporting to aid financial statement users to better understand the contents of the reports for decision-making and strategic planning purposes
  • Present & facilitate review of actual to budget expenditures with Country Director, Program Director and Program Managers
  • Provide recommendations for budget realignments as required


  • Ensure compliance with the organization and donor regulations and procedures;
  • Establishing finance and supporting function policies, systems and procedures, and directing or performing their development, documentation, and implementation. Experience with UNICEF / UN agency financial management – Highly desired
  • Review and account for procurement transactions to ensure adequate supporting documentation, accuracy of amounts and control over payments
  • Maintains the organizations system of accounts ensuring all accounting data are updated, reconciled and fully supported
  • Review accounting for the Bahamas country office
  • Supervise and ensure that the day-to-day accounting operations and financial management functions in the office are performed in accordance with internal policy and procedures, and in line with donor requirements


The Financial Manager will support the financial activity of the organization on a day-to-day basis, including:

  • Manage the organization’s cash flows, prepare regular pipelines and expenses reports
  • Prepare and execute bank orders as needed and oversee transactions
  • Ensure timely payment of financial obligations
  • Support payroll functions to ensure that employees and service providers are paid in a timely and accurate manner
  • Issue invoices and receipts to donors and other stakeholders
  • Work on reporting and reconciliation and provide all relevant information
  • Ensures maintenance of accurate records of financial transactions of the country office in order to monitor financial status of all project activities


  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of projects and countries to donors, government and other external parties
  • Prepare internal reports and present them to management and HQ
  • Manages the finance department of the country office to meet the financial reporting requirements of in-country management and HQ; this function includes ensuring that all financial reports are submitted on or before the deadlines set and contain relevant information for all the users of the financial reports
  • Directs the preparation of all financial reports for external purposes in respect to accounting, legal and contractual requirements


  • Maintain open lines of communications with HQ Finance Department to ensure finance activities and objectives are communicated
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the team through demonstrated business judgment combined with an ability to work as a team player


  • Work with Country Director, operations and logistics staff to ensure the coordination of programs are within budgeted targets
  • Ensure compliance to local labor laws including contracts, compensation packages and working hours
  • Contribute to the creation of overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organizations code of conduct, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to internal and external actors
  • Lead the production of reports to local authorities and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of information provided, as well ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information


  • Attend meetings, including meetings with external actors, which are relevant to the work of the department
  • Interface with national government and relevant agencies to ensure compliance with varying government fiscal regulations
  • Serve as the principal liaison with donors on matters related to finance to ensure fiscal accountability to donors
  • Work with key donor staff to develop and maintain optimum financial relationships


  • Ensures financial considerations are planned for and implemented as required at each security level
  • Sends copies of key internal documents to HQ for back-up
  • Ensure safe keeping of team’s cash, bank records and any relevant documents and data


  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout IsraAID. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of IsraAID and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.


  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or another related field
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector
  • Experience working with UN Financial systems and reporting mechanisms
  • High proficiency working level of Excel
  • Experience working with institutional donors is highly desired
  • Experience working with UN Financial systems and reporting mechanisms
  • This is a national position for Bahamian citizens
  • The position is based in Freeport, Grand Bahama
