Oikocredit Job Vacancy: International Agriculture Specialist - Amersfoort, Netherland

Oikocredit International (OI) is looking for an agricultural specialist ( full-time, 36 hours) to be based in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. 

The international agriculture specialist will be part of the agriculture unit, reporting to the global head of agriculture and supervising Oikocredit’s agricultural technical advisor, based in Côte d'Ivoire. 

Responsibilities 

As an international agriculture specialist, you will be responsible for:
  • Contributing to the development of strategies and policies in agriculture
  • Developing and maintaining a network of public and private sector agricultural organizations in Europe
  • Leading the design of loan products and services geared towards increasing Oikocredit’s competitiveness in the agriculture sector
  • Identifying, preparing and presenting agricultural projects to Oikocredit’s credit committee, which have been sourced from potential European clients and non-focus countries
  • Providing technical support and guidance in due diligence and monitoring to Oikocredit’s regional and country offices in Southeast Asia, EECA region, and Africa
  • Participating in the technical review of agricultural proposals worldwide and participating as a member of the credit committee for agricultural projects
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of an agriculture monitoring system and evaluation programme
  • Support the Agricultural Unit’s efforts in the design and implementation of skills development initiatives

Education and experience

It is essential that you:
  • Hold a master’s degree in economics, business administration, agricultural economics, development economics or related discipline
  • Have at least 15 years of experience working in business, banking and/or economic development and in senior management position
  • Have extensive relevant experience in the evaluation of agricultural investment proposals and management of credit schemes
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
