The Communications and Marketing Officer position is a new position, and an excellent opportunity for a young professional to make their mark working with an award winning, high impact organisation based in Siem Reap, Cambodia. 

Communications & Marketing Officer Purpose:
Reporting to This Life Cambodia’s (TLC’s) Strategic Partnerships Officer (SPO), the Communications & Marketing Officer will support the SPO, Executive Director (ED) and Deputy Director (DD) to implement marketing and communications strategies that contribute to: growing TLC’s community of supporters both in Cambodia and internationally; fundraising of flexible funding; and raising awareness of TLC’s work. The Communications & Marketing Officer role focuses primarily on creatively engaging with and growing TLC’s individual supporter base. The position will begin as soon as is possible for the successful candidate, and will be a one-year, renewable contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the ED, DD and SPO to design and implement a communications and fundraising plan
  • Manage and create written and visual content for TLC’s Social Media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, TLC blog, and others) and website (WordPress), and regularly collect current stories from Program Coordinators and other staff
  • Undertake fundraising initiatives and communications campaigns
  • Manage TLC supporter databases (MailChimp), and assist in improving effectiveness of these systems
  • Coordinate production of creative communications and marketing materials, and support the production of the TLC Annual Report and other key publications
  • Respond to general inquiries from potential volunteers, supporters and other contacts, and support the SPO to manage individual donor email and phone communications for general donations
  • Conduct marketing activities to build TLC’s profile in Siem Reap
  • Coordinate fundraising events (RUN TLC and others)
  • Assist in developing and maintaining media contact lists in Australia and Cambodia
  • Support SPO, ED & DD with high-level administration as directed and provide assistance as requested to help accomplish the strategic goals of the organization
  • Demonstrate commitment to TLC core values and to Child Protection
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 2 years experience in similar roles
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field from a tertiary institution
  • Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and web content administration using WordPress or similar
  • Proficient in social media platforms and strategy (blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other platforms, to maintain TLCs online presence)
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use initiative and to work autonomously
  • Excellent personal organization skills and flexibility within a dynamic work environment whereby the applicant is able to manage work, adjust to tasks and re-prioritize when needed
Desirable:
  • Previous experience working internationally for a period of time or experience working within a cross-cultural context
  • Previous experience in a communications role with a not-for-profit or community development organization
  • Proficiency in InDesign and Photoshop, and good visual design skills
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to the design and implementation of a Communications/Marketing plan or campaign, with clear targets and deliverables
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including experience in knowledge sharing, training or capacity building

Salary Package:
The salary range is $1000 - $1100 USD base salary per month. The package also includes savings scheme, health insurance, and a telephone allowance, and visa (for international employees).
