Amnesty International Job Vacancy: Regional Researchers - Beirut, Lebanon

Regional Researchers
Salary: $72,469

Amnesty International is moving closer to the ground! As part of this exciting change, we are looking for four experienced Researchers to join Amnesty International’s new Middle East North Africa Regional Office, based in Lebanon, in order to shape and develop our human rights research across the region.

About the role:
As a research-based campaigning organization, investigating and documenting human rights issues is fundamental to our advocacy and lobbying work. Our Beirut Regional Office requires Researchers to take the lead in initiating human rights research and action by providing regional and thematic expertise, excellent research skills and sound political judgement. A campaign oriented approach to your work is essential. You’ll be required to conduct and co-ordinate research activities, monitor, investigate and analyse political, legal and social developments and human rights conditions, give authoritative advice on these areas and prepare human rights action materials.

About you:
With experience of working on human rights issues, you’ll have first-hand in-depth knowledge and experience of the MENA region, specifically specialising in either Syria, Lebanon and Jordan or Iraq, and an understanding and awareness of the cultures of the Middle East. You'll have a background in activism, academia, law or journalism with the ability to identify and thoroughly investigate those issues and ensure our voice has authority. You’ll need proven research and communication skills, impartial political judgement, coupled with strong strategic thought. Fluency in English and Arabic, including excellent spoken, reading and writing skills, is essential. Kurdish is desirable for the Iraq-specific Researcher role.

About us:
  • Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they're denied. And whether we're applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we're all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
  • Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 7 million people who campaign for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all.
  • Our supporters are outraged by human rights abuses but inspired by hope for a better world - so we work to improve human rights through campaigning and international solidarity.
We reach almost every country in the world and have:
  • more than 2 million members and supporters who drive forward our fight for rights
  • more than 5 million activists who strengthen our calls for justice
You can help make a real difference by becoming a member or supporter of Amnesty International.
