Finance Officer

The Maram Foundation for Relief and Development (Maram) is a non-profit organization, founded by American-Syrian activists with the aim of alleviating the suffering of people in need since its inception to date the foundation had delivered lifesaving aid and developmental projects to hundreds of thousands of Syrian IDPs and refugees along with host committees.

The Accountant Performs accounts payable accounting function including receiving and matching invoices, account coding, preparation of disbursements and accounts payable related record keeping. The Accountant coordinates activities with Sub-offices, bookkeeps, Warehouse Officer and Projects Managers. The Accountant reports directly to Sr. Accountant.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Local Government and authorities
  • Ensure Compliance with Local legislation
  • Liaise with CPA and ensure accurate and timely submission of tax, social security and other mandatory reports required by local governmental bodies.
  • Accounting, Compliance and Monitoring
  • Ensure review of the source documents/ payment packages to ensure alignment with local legislation
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data into the standard registers
  • Ensure all bank accounts balances reconciled monthly
  • Assist Accounting Team Lead in audit preparation

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Assist the Reporting and Analysis team with monthly reconciliations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounting position with medium business/medium NGO/government agency
  • Experience with humanitarian aid in-country is a plus.
  • Knowledge of financial systems, budget/cash flow monitoring and internal accounting controls.
  • Proficient work on Quickbooks program
  • Computer experience with word processing, database, management
  • Analytical skills and good attention to details.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Turkish and English
