Senior ADVISOR, CHILD PROTECTION (maternity leave contract – 12 Months FIXED-TERM)

This is an opportunity for a highly competent and experienced Senior Child Protection Advisor to lead in the management and growth of Plan International Australia’s (P.I.A.) program portfolio for child protection, and provide technical advisory support to program partners. The role also supervises one staff member in the Melbourne office, and contributes to CP safe-guarding systems strengthening. Key accountabilities: 
  • Lead Child Rights and Protection programming and acquisition
  • Lead Child Rights/Protection support to PIA partners and the PIA strategy
  • Contribute to Child Protection safe-guarding process, procedures and systems strengthening
  • Lead on personnel management, and work alongside an international team.
  • Maintain and grow strong partnerships with public and private organisations to drive further innovation in the child protection field.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Post Graduate qualification in relevant area such as development, child rights or children’s health and development and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Quality professional experience in providing technical advice or overseeing projects in the area of Children’s Rights, Rights Based Approaches, Child Protection and / or Child Protection in Emergencies
  • Proven ability in grant proposal writing, with a track-record of grant acquisition success, and experience with a range of donors, including DFAT.
  • Quality experience working in cross-cultural settings.
