WWF Indonesia Job Vacancy: Sustainable Tuna Policy Coordinator, Jakarta

Yayasan WWF Indonesia, an independent national conservation organization, is part of a global network of WWF. Yayasan WWF Indonesia is currently seeking the best candidate for the position of Sustainable Tuna Policy Coordinator. This position will be based in Jakarta, and report directly to the Coral Triangle Programme Leader.

Purpose of the position:
To establish and implement a communication and advocacy strategy for knowledge exchange on best practices between experts, key stakeholders, and decision-makers to foster support for advancing a Harvest Strategy and Harvest Control Rules for YFT at WCPFC.

The advocacy strategy aims to raise awareness and foster knowledge exchange on Harvest Strategies and Harvest Control Rules with-WCPO Countries members and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Master’s degree in economics, public policy, international finance, international development, and other relevant fields.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in fisheries science, development, policy advocacy, policy research, coordination, or other related areas.  Work experience in tuna fisheries and in the WCPFC is desired.
  • At least five years of experience working with the Government entities and development partners.
  • Proven experience in developing concept notes for policy events and policy papers, TORs for experts to provide policy inputs, studies, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively across different cultures and countries in the global north and south.
  • Experience coordinating with government entities, multilateral organizations, donor organizations or development organizations, and seafood industry companies is an asset, with the ability to understand multiple values and bottom lines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to describe policies and the legislative process to constituents with limited use of legalese and jargon.
  • Ability to mediate differences of philosophy and opinion; maintain calm, efficient, and good-humored approach to work while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, highly productive work environment; work independently and as a team member; think critically and with foresight; carry out assignments with limited direction; adapt to change, and be nimble and flexible.
  • Demonstrated competence with program coordination, including but not limited to: designing and delivering presentations; public speaking; facilitation; team leadership and collaboration; detailed program planning and timely implementation; event organizing; budget development and monitoring; and developing and editing written materials.
  • Must have a high level of computer literacy (competent in MS Office, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint)
  • Good communications and diplomacy skills
