Programme Officer, Police Reforms Programme
The position is a fine opportunity for a young professional committed to human rights and access to justice, to work on some cutting edge issues in the field, and become skilled at the complex process of putting commitment and knowledge to use for systemic change.
Job Description
The programme officer will be required to work in a small team and engage in research and evidence based advocacy to promote accountable policing in India.
The programme officer will:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-4 years professional work experience, with strong academic qualifications in law, social sciences, human rights, or other security or criminal justice related fields. Candidates must possess good research, writing and editing and oral communications skills in English. Language skills in Hindi are highly desirable. Knowledge of human rights, policing, or security sector reform is an advantage, as is experience in planning and implementing advocacy strategies. Candidates must be adaptable and able to work effectively in a challenging environment.
Remuneration will be commensurate with knowledge and experience levels.

- design and conduct research studies,ensuring optimal use of the Right to Information,
- organise and resource workshops and conferences,
- develop written and multimedia materials,
- provide technical assistance to a large variety of people working on issues related to police accountability,
- maintain and expand networks with diverse groups (including governments, national police oversight bodies, police, civil society and media)
