Our network is made up of a number of autonomous Member Organizations spread over 50 countries and 5 continents.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Latin America and Caribbean Coordinator leads the overall coordination and growth of the Pax Christi International network in the region, currently made of eleven Member Organisations in nine countries. In this capacity, the Coordinator is responsible for leading regional planning and implementation processes. The Coordinator also represents Pax Christi International in the Region and liaises with Members in the United States and Canada. The Coordinator reports to the Secretary General.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


I. Representation and Advocacy
In coordination with the International Secretariat:
  1. Act as regional contact for donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  2. Strengthen institutional relations with Member Organisations and with existing and potential partner organisations.
  3. Lead regional communication strategies.
  4. Develop an advocacy strategy for the region, according to institutional priorities and in collaboration with Pax Christi UN representatives.
  5. Support fundraising strategies, including grant writing and interaction with existing and potential donors
II. Program Design and Implementation
In coordination with the International Secretariat and Member Organisations:
  1. Ensure adequate planning and implementation of a regional strategic program in line with Pax Christi International priorities and strategies.
  2. Design and implement a results-based monitoring and evaluation system of the regional program.
  3. Coordinate the design and implementation of quality capacity-building regional initiatives, including selection of consultants and supervision of formation/training delivery.
  4. Promote active exchanges with other Pax Christi regional programs.
III. Management and Administration
In coordination with the International Secretariat:
  1. Manage program budgets and ensure accurate and timely reporting on program finances, including review of progress, performance against budget and eventual variations.
  2. Lead a regional advisory group and manage a small team of volunteers.
  3. Coordinates periodical regional program reporting and prepares ad hoc reporting on specific issues when needed.
PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Advanced university degree in peace studies, social sciences, international development or other related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of regional program management experience on areas related to peacebuilding and reconciliation required.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with faith-based organizations and civil society at large using participatory approaches required.
  • Proven ability to lead accompaniment and capacity building-related processes involving civil society organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead advocacy processes with civil society organisations.
  • Substantive experience in program/project design and implementation using results-oriented methodologies. Experience leading strategic planning processes is highly desired.
  • Excellent computer skills required. Experience with social media is highly desired.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required; working proficiency in French highly desired.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to promote solid institutional partnerships and to interact with local/national governments and with international donors.
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to evaluate options decisively and to implement solutions accurately and efficiently.
  • Outstanding abilities to generate and implement innovative ideas.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and able to meet deadlines.
  • Personal accountability and driven to serve others.
  • Able to work remotely and to travel internationally.
LOCATION:
The coordinator is expected to be based in the region, in his or her country of residence.

TERMS AND SALARY
This is an international consultancy position under a Long Term Agreement (LTA). The LTA is a mutual arrangement between Pax Christi International and an individual to provide services over a period of 12 months, renewable. Payments shall be made to the Individual Consultant based on agreed rates and upon successful achievement of tasks. The estimated compensation for the individual consultant for one year is expected to be around US$ 40,000.
