The Jane Goodall Institute Job Vacancy: Executive Director - Beijing, China

The Jane Goodall Institute’s mission is to empower individuals to take informed and compassionate action to improve the environment for all living things.

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Program came to Beijing in 1994 and the Jane Goodall Institute China (JGI China) was established in 2000.

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots (R&S) is an international hands-on environmental and humanitarian education program that is about making positive change happen – for the environment, for animals and for our communities. Roots & Shoots is the flagship program of JGI China and is administered by three offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. In addition to overseeing the expansion of R&S in China, the R&S Beijing office is directly managed by JGI China.

Since our first school in 1994 in Beijing we have worked with over 1,000 schools to implement environmental education and trained 10,000 teachers across 25 provinces. R&S has resulted in hundreds of thousands of Chinese youth changing attitudes and behaviors, empowering them to be change agents. R&S alumni now work in science and environmental sectors, teach sustainability in schools, and implement green practices in their work places.
