World Federation of United Nations Associations Job Vacancy: Fundraising Assistant - Geneva, Switzerland

The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is a global non-profit organization working for a stronger and more effective United Nations. Established in 1946, we represent and coordinate a membership of over 100 United Nations Associations and their thousands of members. We work to build a better world by strengthening and improving the United Nations, through the engagement of people who share a global mindset and support international cooperation- global citizens. Our organization has offices at the United Nations in both New York and Geneva, as well as in Seoul, Korea, and hosts interns in all three locations.

Position Description - Fundraising Assistant

The Fundraising Assistant will help with the organization’s fundraising activities with a special focus on Human Rights and Educational Programs. All of WFUNA’s activities and programs rely on outside funding. This is a unique opportunity to be exposed to the diverse nature of fundraising work and to hone interpersonal, communication, fundraising and marketing skills.

The main responsibilities of the position will include the following:
  • Conduct prospect research: individual, corporate, foundation and government
  • Compile and submit proposal packages for funding
  • Draft and edit donor correspondence (eg. letters of inquiry, email meeting requests, donor acknowledgement, and proposals)
  • Schedule meetings with UN missions, agencies and other NGOs
  • Maintain WFUNA’s on-line development database (Salesforce)
Additional responsibilities:
  • Assist in pre-event preparation and in organizing events
  • Contribute to WFUNA’s website and social media content

Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree acquired or in process of being acquired with strong research skills
  • Applicant must be self-motivated, energetic, vigilant about staying on tasks and meeting deadlines, and willing to engage in such fundraising tasks as cold calling
  • Interest in international affairs, non-profit organizations and fundraising
  • Strong communications (verbal and written), and solid organizational skills are necessary
  • Fluency in English and excellent drafting skills are required; knowledge of French is a plus.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess prior experience in the field of fundraising and/or philanthropy and in grant application writing
  • Experience with Salesforce or another fundraising database is not required, but is a plus
