The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is part of the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement, the world's largest independent humanitarian organization.
Since 2009 the SRC is engaged in South Sudan with health, water, hygiene and sanitation programs. The latest conflict in South Sudan that spanned over two years resulted in some areas of the country being totally marginalized and having poor to no access to basic services. The planned project is an integrated partnership between the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and SRC and will be based in Maiwut, Latjoor State in South Sudan. Therefore we are looking for a
Health Delegate
The Delegate is under the supervision of the Maiwut Head of Office with technical support from the Deputy Health Coordinator of the ICRC.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the implementation of activities in close collaboration with the health facility officers
- Liaise with the ICRC midwife and MHPSS delegate to establish referral pathways
- In the event of weapon-wounded casualties, coordinate with the respective managers admission or medical evacuation and monitor incidents in the area
- Compile and submit regular reports, monitor the overall health situation, document humanitarian needs and propose appropriate interventions
- Conduct assessments, guide the health team to ensure timely implementation of activities, monitor drugs and stock consumption, ensure the medical supply chain is maintained, coordinate with all stakeholders
- Participate actively in collaboration with Management, attend regular sub-delegation and delegation meetings, contribute to weekly highlights and monthly reporting and supervise trainings of all PHCUs
Your profile:
- Nurse or public health expert with autonomous creative, innovative and proactive function as well as improvisational skills
- Proven team leader skills with coordination, communication and facilitation/training skills and prior experience in similar positions
- Midwifery qualification with experience and previous remote health area experience would be an asset
- Ability to adapt to South Sudanese culture, security constraints and basic living and working conditions
- Motivated to support the capacity building of the South Sudanese counterpart
Conditions:
12-months with the option of extension, starting in January 2017 or per agreement. Adequate salary, social insurances, travel and accommodation expenses provided. Non-family posting.
