Established in 1977, GOAL is an international humanitarian agency dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the poor and the vulnerable and is currently operating in 13 countries world-wide. GOAL delivers a wide range of humanitarian and development programmes, ranging from humanitarian relief in disaster situations to supporting the development of healthcare services and building sustainable livelihoods. Since its foundation, GOAL has allocated more than €910 million to programmes in over 60 countries.

GOAL has an annual budget of approximately €115 million and is supported by a range of donors including the Irish Government, UK Government, USAID, the European Union, individuals, trusts and foundations.  Informed by its track record over the last 40 years, GOAL remains committed to responding to humanitarian crises and tackling extreme poverty around the world. Looking to further strengthen its programmatic responses, GOAL is looking to appoint a Director of International Programmes.

Director of International Programmes

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of International Programmes will be a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), sharing collective responsibility for GOAL’s mission and vision. The Director will be responsible for the operational management of the GOAL’s country programmes and grant portfolio. The post-holder will provide guidance and support to GOAL’s Regional Directors to ensure programmes are of the expected quality and achieve the desired impact.

GOAL is seeking an exceptional leader with extensive experience in the development and/or humanitarian sector. The preferred applicant will be a skilled communicator; have strong relationship management skills and expertise in strategy development and implementation. S/he will facilitate a culture of learning and development which will ensure that the focus of GOAL’s work continues to be guided by the benefit it creates for poor and vulnerable people, particularly those impacted by, and recovering, from crises.
