POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Field Officer Sorong
PROJECT: USAID Bersama – Gender-Based Violence Prevention Program in Eastern Indonesia
LOCATION: Sorong, West Papua, Indonesia
REPORTS TO: Field Coordinator

Position Summary:
In close coordination with the Field Coordinator and technical team, the Field Officer will be responsible for administering the project’s field activities in support of the project’s aim to strengthen government capacity and commitment to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) to move Indonesia forward on its journey to self-reliance. S/he will work with the team to produce a high-quality, results-oriented project. The position will be based in Sorong, West Papua, with project-funded travel in the Eastern Region. The position is contingent upon continuation of donor funding.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee day-to-day activities in the assigned target area (Sorong), with a focus on working with key government entities to improve service delivery to victims and support government to improve outreach and coordination civil society related to GBV;
  • Provide direct support to government agencies and institutions at the district level. This will include periodic check-ins, consultations and meetings for planning and ensuring that activities are on track;
  • Coordinate regularly with the project’s technical team and assist them, as required, with activities in the field;
  • Support the Field Coordinator to provide analysis of ongoing activities, including successful approaches that may be replicated, challenges and proposed solutions, and identify lessons learned;
  • Monitor day-to-day implementation of activities and in coordination with the Field Coordinator, regularly collect and report monitoring data to M&E team and assist with monitoring visits, spot checks, assessments and evaluations;
  • Maintain strong working relationship with relevant government and civil society counterparts/champions and agencies;
  • Arrange meetings and events as per the workplan and for staff and donor visits;
  • In coordination with Field Coordinator and project operations team, organize logistics for program activities as per program policies and protocol;
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Field Coordinator, Sr. Program Manager or Chief of Party
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQURIEMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social science, gender studies, public health, or a related field.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience of working with development organizations, non-governmental/international organizations in humanitarian, social or economic field; 
  • Experience working with government.
  • Knowledge of gender/gender-based violence preferred; 
  • Experience with training, mentoring and other forms of capacity building;
  • Experience working on USAID or other donor-funded projects is a plus.
Skills:
  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English required; 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet (preferably Microsoft Access and Excel), and presentation software (Microsoft PowerPoint);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Team player, able to work respectfully and cooperatively with colleagues of different national and cultural backgrounds with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation; 
  • Willingness to travel.
