The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is the largest humanitarian organization in Switzerland. We provide a broad range of services for the benefit of particularly vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Switzerland and in more than 20 countries around the world.

Over the years, SRC has supported the South Sudan Red Cross in responding to improve access to basic health services and safe water, hygiene, and sanitation across the country. For our program related to health and projects for safe water, hygiene, and sanitation, National Society Development (NSD), blood safety & availability, emergencies, and psychosocial support we are looking for a delegate in the function of a Country Coordinator South Sudan to be based in Juba with frequent travel to rural areas.

What you will be doing
  • Professional planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, and reporting of health, safe water, hygiene and sanitation, blood safety & availability, and emergency projects
  • Closely work with the South Sudan Red Cross (SSRC) and coordinate with Movement partners (PNS, IFRC, ICRC) and other stakeholders on site
  • Provide project documentation for the continuation of existing and new projects as well as regular narrative and financial reporting to SRC HQ and monitor the progress of project implementation
  • Monitor, oversee and control budgets and give support to transparent and accountable financial management, assess in cooperation with ICRC the security situation in Juba and the project areas
  • Line-manage and support one field delegate in her duties, administer the SRC office in South Sudan, and manage, supervise, and technical support of local staff
  • In cooperation with the SRC HQ based Programme Coordinator regularly review and further develop the SRC program in South Sudan and the partnership with SSRC.
Your profile
  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. social science, business administration, public health)
  • Minimum of 5 years international working experience as manager or supervisor
  • Demonstrated experience in project and team management, proposal writing and basic financial management, health and water, hygiene, and sanitation projects
  • Familiarity with Red Cross Movement and regional experience would be an asset
  • Diplomacy, tact, team spirit, leadership qualities, and negotiation skills are essential
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken is essential / working language)
  • Willingness to live and work in a fragile context with tight security regulations
What you can expect
  • Minimum 12-month contract with the option of extension, starting at 1st October 2021 or per agreement.
