WWF Indonesia Job Vacancy: Fisheries Officer for Derawan MPA - Berau, Kalimantan Timur

WWF-Indonesia, an independent national conservation organization, is part of a global network of WWF. WWF-ID is seeking the best candidate for the position of Fisheries Officer for Derawan MPA. This position will be based in Berau, Kalimantan Timur, and report directly to the Site Coordinator for Derawan MPA.

This position will carry out duties such as acting as a Focal Point for WWF-Indonesia in facilitating the implementation of projects/programs in Derawan areas and managing relationships with target communities related to the objectives of the project/program, to ensure the management of knowledge, awareness, and local community support for WWF projects/programs -Indonesia, especially in supporting the development of marine conservation areas and conservation of protected species in Kalimantan and Sumatra working areas, as well as in other WWF-Indonesia working areas.

Requirements for this position are:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in fisheries, Marine Science, and biology or science relevant to the project.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience with:
  • Work experience with communities/communities, groups of fishermen/cultivators/fishery corporations
  • Experience in social development 
  • Experience working with communities and NGOs
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) 
  • Mastering and understanding advocacy efforts, community development and strengthening, as well as public policy. 
  • Competence in marine conservation management, fisheries, and fisheries data management and analysis 
  • Able to work with a team with limited supervision and have an interest in working in the field with the community. 
  • Committed to sustainable marine and fishery resource management efforts 
  • Understand the substance of work which is the core activity of WWF (preferred)
  • National and international environmental and social safeguards
  • Passion for nature conservation and sustainable development, coupled with a belief in the WWF Mission
