Program Coordinator for Child- friendly Libraries, YLAI

The Program Coordinator for YLAI will oversee the management and coordination of Child – friendly Libraries YLAI program activities and expenditures to ensure successful delivery on YLAI’s commitments as reflected in the project agreement, operational plan, and budget. The Program Coordinator will work with the Program Manager, supervise project officer/coordinator, Advocacy Focal Point and operational teams to monitor implementation progress and adaptively manage project activities and resource allocation in keeping with project goals and targets. The Program Coordinator will serve as the principal (day-to-day) liaison with partners, local goverments and will facilitate effective communications and decision making between the two organizations on all project management matters. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for preparing high quality reports as necessary to meet project reporting requirements.

This position will be based in Bali with regular visit to the field in the target villages.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing the implementation of the program for the set of schools under his/her jurisdiction, ensuring timely, efficient and well-coordinated implementation, adhering to the program and budget guidelines.
  • Responsible for managing relationships with school, community and government counterparts in their jurisdiction and respond to issues that may arise in these relationships.
  • Interact with all relevant stakeholders, with emphasis on major government partner institutions
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with project teams. Provide oversight, direction, and ensure coordination of project teams to implement annual work plans and deliver high impact results. Ensure that all activities are being executed, are fully budgeted, and are funded
  • Ensure  that all program schools receive books and materials at the appropriate time
  • Ensure that all principal, teacher, librarian training is held as per plan  and program guidelines, including the receipt of necessary approvals.
  • Ensure that program schools are monitored as per guidelines and the teachers perform their job effectively.
  • Ensure effective utilization of program budget through proper planning and tracking of planned activities.
  • Supervise and ensure all data entry and compilation on monthly basis.
  • Assist in preparing all programmatic and financial reports as required.
  • Organize and lead review meetings at field level.
  • Participate in any other activities which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of the organization
  • Make regular visits to program schools alone and with key government officials from block/district/state level, and observe classroom management, balanced reading instruction, classroom library management
  • Discuss issues with principal and teachers in each school and based on that provide solutions at the field level.
  • Observe and coach teachers by using structured observation form during regular school support visit.
Qualification

Required:
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in education, Social Community, or other relevants fields / study.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in program management.
  • Strong planning, budgetary, supervising, and project implementation skills.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability and experience in dealing with all stakeholders, especially relations with local governments.
  • Proven track record of achieving results
  • Proven ability to work effectively with schools and communities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Indonesian.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player
Preferred:
  • Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators, and government officials.
  • Experience in the successful implementation of a wide range of tasks as well as developing and implementing improvements in a prior position.
