Yayasan Rumah Energi (YRE)
was established in 2012 in the social and humanitarian fields. The organization is mandated to contribute and create positive impacts on poverty alleviation, strengthening the livelihood of grassroots’ communities, adaptation and mitigation to climate change and assisting in disaster risk reduction through innovation and shared knowledge. The overarching mandates are translated into YRE’s 3 (three) main YRE programs, namely: i) Renewable Energy; ii) Sustainable Food; and iii) Social Business Incubation. We deliver our program through policy advocacy; survey and data analytics; R&D of products; enabling market ecosystem of renewables and agriculture; and building capacity of grassroot communities. YRE team consists of 18 staff with team members located in 4 (four) provinces.

Our flagship program is the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program (BIRU). BIRU has facilitated the installation of 26.247 biodigesters in 17 provinces across Indonesia. The program has impacted over 121.000 people among which 27.880 people are farmers; trained 1.458 local masons; 153 local partner including Micro Finance Institutions, SMEs and universities. The program applied a blended finance model where financing are sourced and combined from government budget, corporate CSRs, carbon credits, micro loans from MFIs and users contribution. YRE has also been providing social business incubation facility to women entrepreneurs through our Pro Women and Puan (Desa) Inspiratif programs. In 2020, YRE has just launched the Green Cooperatives Program to raise awareness and increase Indonesia’s cooperative role in mobilizing climate finance for renewables and sustainable commodities.

Currently YRE is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and experienced Field Officer to join YRE’s team.

Scope of Work
The Field Officer will be responsible to support implementation of the the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program in the field and provide intensive technical assistance and monitoring related to biogas construction during the project. The Field Officer will be under the direct supervision of the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program (IDBP) Manager.

Task and Responsibilities

The Field Officer will be tasked with the following duties:
  • Take the responsibility of maintaining quality plant construction and after-sales services by CPOs
  • Give a direction and provide feedback to construction partners (CPO) on technical improvement
  • Engineering of biogas plants, tailored to waste management need
  • Overall management of the quality control system for biogas plants.
  • Maintenance of quality standards, quality manuals and procedures.
  • Conduct random inspection to biogas plants to check the quality of plants and its appliances, provide instruction/feedback to Construction Partner Organizations.
  • Prepare quality control reports and provide advices to plant constructors on improvements.
  • Perform biogas-related activities as assigned by Programme Manager and/or YRE.
  • Reviewing a biodigester construction forms and after sales service forms submitted by construction partners (CPO), and send to NBPSO for records
  • Provide reports and/or any feedbacks to Program Manager on technical, non-technical matters
  • Technical coordination with biogas experts, relevant local government  and partners
  • Identify, recommend and execute marketing efforts of the biogas digesters
  • Address the issue of any technical problems faced by users / CPO
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

The Field Officer is expected to have the following qualifications:
  • Proven Experience in construction or in the same position at least 3 years
  • Educational background of a Bachelor's degree or work background in the field of civil engineering
  • Good communication skills, preferably able to actively speak English.
  • Ability to make reports in a structured and informative manner
  • Having experience working with NGO/donor program/CSR is a plus
  • Have driving lecense (C & A) and be able to drive in mountainous terrain
  • Have the ability to operate Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Have negotiation and managerial skills
  • Ability to work together in a team
  • Proactive in a team
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision
Contract Period
YRE offers a one-year contract with possibility of extension.  The appointment is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. Two positions available for this post, one will be in Central Java - Yogyakarta – East Java based with possibility frequent travel to all the project area, and 1 person will be based in West Nusa Tenggara.
