Anti-Trafficking Legal Specialist - American Bar Association | Uganda

The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) seeks a pro bono volunteer with expertise in combating human trafficking. The specialist would be involved in providing training on international anti-trafficking laws and mechanisms as well as assist in the coordination of a national task force on trafficking. The Legal Specialist will work together with ABA ROLI’s resident country director and will communicate on a regular basis with relevant government institutions, local legal organizations and international NGOs in order to facilitate the drafting of protocol documents and procedures to be adopted nationally. A training-of-trainers session may also be included.
ABA ROLI seeks candidates who are knowledgeable about human trafficking and highly skilled at employing a consultative/collaborative in building consensus amongst diverse groups of stakeholders. Experience working in Africa preferred but not required.
This is a 3-6 month position that includes a small stipend. Pro bono legal specialist travel and housing is provided and all specialists receive modest allowances for meals and incidental expenses (in the case of service beyond 3 months, insurance will be provided).
