People in need is seeking for the Programme manager (WASH) for Angola

Location: Angola, Kuito, Kamakupa Starting date: November / December 2011-09-23

Duration: 10 months with possibility of extension Job type: Volunteer contract for the first 3 months, after this period regular job contract

People in Need (PIN) has been active in Angola since 2006. The operation in Angola is currently PIN’s second largest international development cooperation mission. The education and agriculture sectors are the focus of PIN’s activities. Activities include: construction of schools, teacher training, skills training for farmers including a poultry breeding demonstration site, and support towards development of small farming businesses. Programme manager of WASH (with emphasize on the hygiene awareness)
This programme focuses on community sanitation awareness and hygiene promotion in Bié province. The major activities of this project are communities & schools mobilisation (using the CLTS principles) and coordination with local authorities and government. This project starts in September 2011 and will last 12 months.

Main responsibilities: • overall project management including the responsibility for the effective use of the finances and ensuring the maximum benefits of the project activities for the final beneficiaries • management and capacity development of the local team • monitoring end evaluation of project activities • reporting to HQ and to donors • coordination with the partners, donors, local authorities and communities • new project proposals writing

Main requirements:
• experience in the development cooperation in the hygiene promotion and communities mobilisation • experience with the project management and management of team ( incl. national staff) • advanced knowledge of English and Portuguese (or Spanish) • strong administrative skills, communication and organisational skills • ability and preparedness to work independently in culturally different, challenging environment

• working for established NOG on the professionally designed development project • possibility to see the results of your work • for the voluntary contract: covering of the travel costs, accommodation, insurance and 50 USD per diems; then promotion on the employee position paid according to PIN´s salary scale
