Accountabilities
The Director of Growth, reporting to Executive Director, has overall responsibility for planning, developing and executing imagine1day’s global fundraising strategy, encompassing CREATRIBUTION™ and all other funding sources.
  • Develop and implement imagine1day’s fundraising strategy from conception through execution to reach personal revenue targets and those set in imagine1day's annual and strategic plans.
  • Develop and implement a strategy and design systems and processes, to scale CREATRIBUTION™ to multiple geographic locations and key target markets.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with prospective and current donors and partners, based on imagine1day’s strategic priorities and long term goals.
  • Support and grow fundraising initiatives within Ethiopia.
  • Support the establishment and growth of imagine1day in the US market.
  • Prepare presentation, application, and proposal materials for corporate and foundation grant applications.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the imagine1day brand through strategic partnerships.
  • Work cross-functionally in education programming, budgeting, strategic planning, and in developing the Board of Directors, to broaden the understanding of the link between this position and the overall organisational goals.
  • Inspire and mentor team members with full responsibility for the recruitment, employment, and release of department team members, both paid staff and volunteers.
The successful candidate will be part of a small and successful team, and should demonstrate enthusiasm to multi-task and manage their own administrative needs, while possessing a strong sense of initiative and excellence in working with a team. The position requires a high level of professionalism, leadership, and personal commitment.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • An advanced degree in business, non-profit management or other related field.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience, with at least five years at a senior management level.
  • Understanding of business function of non-profits, including fundraising development and program design and operation.
  • Proven ability in effective strategy development, business planning and project management, with the ability to manage and prioritise work to meet deadlines and revenue targets.
  • Ability to translate the organisation’s objectives and priorities into operational delivery and respond quickly to changes in short-term priorities.
  • Demonstrated success in owning and meeting ambitious funding targets and performance indicators, as well as participating in financial projections and reporting.
  • Expertise in researching and matching prospective funder interest with an organisation’s program and funding needs.
  • High level of negotiating and influencing skills, with a track record of conveying a mission and program to diverse groups including funders, Board members, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and other partners and stakeholders.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Highly computer literate with a particular emphasis on the use of databases to ensure the best possible donor management and stewardship.
  • Experience in leveraging social media to further awareness and funding initiatives.
  • No significant disqualifying factors/issues which would preclude from obtaining entry visas into any country.
