Place of Assignment : Communication Division, MRCS Headquarter (Nay Pyi Taw)
Appointment : Initial three months probation any contract with extension subject to
performance appraisal

Purpose of this position: This is a position to be based at the MRCS Headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw, but will require extensive field missions within the country to support the branches and programmes. All work is to be conducted within the framework of the MRCS policies and procedures and in accordance with the fundamental principles of the Red Cross Movement.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, adapt and update Information, Education, Communication (IEC) materials for internal training purposes including in support of training programmes of the other MRCS Divisions.
  • Develop, adapt and update IEC materials for external communication purposes.
  • Plan (including budgeting), organize and carry out information campaign and analyze the impact of each information campaign.
  • Support the Head of Division in assessing information needs internally and externally.
  • Initiate and produce the MRCS newsletters at the end of every two months.
  • Initiate and produce IEC materials that support and reflect the image and role of MRCS.
  • Support the Head of Division in all efforts to build a well-functioning Communications Division within MRCS and create an effective network of information, countrywide.
  • Coordinate with ICRC and IFRC delegations, regarding all matters related to information and communication, in particular planning and budgeting.
  • Produce quarterly report and submit it to the Head of Division.
  • Find appropriate and creative ways of communicating to strengthen the information network.
  • Ensure regular exchange of information with the EC and the other MRCS Divisions, and solicit their opinion on all issues of overall importance.
  • Assist "Newsletter Editing Board" to produce MRCS newsletter (Myanmar) 6 times per year and MRCS newsletter (English) 2 times per year.
  • Write news and articles in Myanmar & English languages and upload on MRCS website in a timely manner as well as job vacancy announcements.
  • Be a reliable focal person to build good relationship with local/international media.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by HoD and/or EC member.

Qualifications and requirements
  • Any degree (Information related/diploma/English major preferable) 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in working within the social and/or NGO environment in related field. 
  • Experience in dealing with media.
  • Previous knowledge about production and publication of IEC materials.
  • Effective Myanmar and English Language skills (Written and Oral).
  • Ability to translate Myanmar to English and English to Myanmar.
  • Very good interpersonal skills and cultural and politico-social sensitivity.
  • Computer literacy and good knowledge of power point presentation use and application.
  • Good in training, facilitating and presentation skills.
  • Working, at times, under tight deadlines.
  • Interest in learning about the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
  • Ability to work effective and harmoniously in a team.
  • Positive attitude towards learning & sharing.
