Mae Tao Clinic seeks a highly motivated qualified person for the newly established position of Deputy Director of Hospital Services.

Mae Tao Clinic is a non-profit health care center serving migrant and refugee populations on the Thai-Burma border since 1989. A broad array of medical, surgical and reproductive health and related human and social services are provided at the clinic. Qualifications
  • Professional Degree: Medical Doctor, Advanced Degree in Health-related Field, or commensurate experience
  • Four years experience in administrative capacity in health care with supervisory experience
  • Clinical experience in patient care
  • Knowledge and experience in health care quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation
  • Strong leadership, communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Spoken and written fluency in English, preferably spoken fluency also in Burmese or Thai
  • Computer literacy
  • Commitment to caring for underserved, vulnerable populations
  • Minimum 2 year commitment
Duties
Overall responsibility for health programs at MTC
Supervise staffing of hospital services, including local staff, international volunteers and medical students.
  • Responsible for approval of staff recruitment/dismissal for all health departments
  • Responsible for health department budget and procurement of supplies and medicines
  • Assure effective coordination among health care programs
Regularly develop and update protocols for MTC health services, including
  • Medical, surgical, reproductive health diagnostic and treatment protocols and checklists
  • Pharmaceutical, laboratory and other services
  • Procedures related to Health Support and Social Work (e.g., referral, HIS, social)
  • Medical Records
  • Infection Control and Prevention
  • Emergency preparedness plans for disease outbreak
Develop and maintain a strong Quality Assurance program utilizing quantitative data from the Health Information System and other sources.
  • Conduct regular monitoring of all MTC health services, and annual evaluation of all health services.
  • Implement performance improvement projects to correct deficiencies and assure compliance with protocols and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to facilities that will enhance the quality of services.
Produce regular reports on patient care that include case loads, diagnoses, length of stay, outcomes, morbidity and mortality.
  • Combine information from Program Managers quarterly reports to produce 6 month reports for Director.
  • Prepare reports for donor agencies as required by funding agreements.
Report directly to the Director of Mae Tao Clinic.

Coordinate closely with other Deputy Directors on policy issues affecting the Clinic through regular meetings and other communications.

Represent the Clinic to outside interests, such as donor organizations, international agencies and local government officials. Present data at conferences.

Coordinate and collaborate with other health organizations to exchange health related information regarding populations on the Thai Burma border.
