Islamic Relief International Job Vacancy: Project Assistant - Lombok, Indonesian

ISLAMIC RELIEF  PURPOSE:
To promote sustainable economic and social development through development programmes, helping the needy regardless of race, religion or gender.

COUNTRY PURPOSE:
Islamic Relief is a UK based charity that seeks to alleviate the sufferings of the world’s poorest people. The Indonesia programme was established in 2003 to deliver emergency relief and developmental activity in disaster prone and impoverished areas. Since then the agency implemented multi - sectoral programme in Banda Aceh, Banten, West Java, Jogjakarta, NTB and West Sumatera.

Presently IR is implementing a child welfare programme in Aceh and rolling out an integrated sustainable development programme in Lombok, NTB. The Indonesia programme is managed by Jakarta based Country Office that provides administrative, programmatic and financial oversight to the field offices.

JOB PURPOSE:
Islamic Relief Indonesia seeks on dynamic professional to vacant position of DRR Project Assistant. Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme (HoP) the Project Assistant is responsible for assisting in the implementation of Islamic Relief Indonesia project activities. In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for the overall project support department in line with Islamic Relief policies and procedures, also responsible for day-to-day Admin and Logistic activities, including staff supervision.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist HoP in maintaining collaborative relationships with humanitarian and development actors in NTB including Province and District government, multi-lateral organizations, NGOs, media, Disaster Management Team, and FKUB.
  • Be the main focal point for implementation at the District-Province level of project deliverables;
  • Monitor and compile basic information on project related topics and assist HoP in  organizing and implementing relevant activities to address and respond to local government and village priorities accordingly;
  • Assist the HoP to promote and raise awareness of IRI’s project activities to Government, partners, stakeholders and the public;
  • Assist the HoP to ensure that IR Indonesia NTB actively participates in government DRR related activities and events to promote DRR awareness;
  • Assist HoP in ensuring appropriate documentation of IRI activities through media initiatives (photos, human interest stories, documentaries, etc.);
  • Participate in project-related meetings, workshops, seminars, coordination meetings as required;
  • Act with integrity and professionalism and in accordance with IRI’s Code of Conduct, at all times;
    • Maintain filing document/Archiving
    • As required provide administrative support and oversight the field offices
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the HoP.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: 
  • Equivalent University degree in Disaster Risk Reduction related areas of study would be an advantage, or alternatively, combination of related education and professional experience
  • At least three years of professional experience in related activities. Thorough knowledge of government structures and development planning mechanisms. Strong knowledge and implementation experience with DRR issues and relevant government structures. Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Existing network and demonstrated government relations and ability to mobilize government representatives to achieve results. Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results, respect for diversity, creative thinking, and punctual.
  • Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Bahasa.
  • Computer skills (MS Word and Excel) 
  • Good communication skills
  • An ability to work under pressure and within a complex and insecure environment
  • Able to work in a multi-lingual and cross-cultural environment.
