The Rainforest Alliance is
an international nonprofit organization that works to conserve
biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use
practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Based in New York
City, with offices throughout the United States and worldwide, the
Rainforest Alliance works with people whose livelihoods depend on the
land, helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and
host travelers.
Position Summary:
This
position will support the Rainforest Alliance’s external communications
and marketing function in the UK and Europe by serving as its
administrative lead; assisting with communications and reporting,
conducting research, and coordinating logistics for strategic events.
S/he will engage with staff and consultants to enhance the ability of
the external communications function to respond to time sensitive
communication requests. This position will also form part of the global
communications and marketing team and will, from time to time, provide
support to global communications projects and campaigns.
This
position will manage the UK’s social media outreach. Seeking to build
audiences and engagement. A knowledge and passion for social media and
an interest in digital marketing is required.
Responsibilities:
Communications
- Maintain general support and guidance to program staff and external audiences by providing prompt, informative responses to requests for input or information from the communications function;
- Monitor the content and usage of blogs and other social media platforms, providing statistical reports to team members as required;
- Managing relevant UK social media channels (e.g. Twitter and LinkedIn) in order to communicate Rainforest Alliance’s stories, updates and impacts. Working to increase audience reach and engagement.
- Coordinating with the Marketing Associate in promoting collaborations with businesses through social media platforms.
- Providing project administration support to the global marketing team.
- Coordinate the flow of information and requests between communications consultants and internal Rainforest Alliance staff; maintaining a timeline and work plan for joint activities;
- Oversee and facilitate the communications library and other information resources for use by UK and European communicators;
Administration
- Assist the Director, External Communications with internal reporting against annual work plans and strategies;
- Provide logistical support for departmental travel, to include booking flights, ground transportation, hotels and travel visas;
- Assist any other global communications functions necessary under the direction of the Director, External Communications;
- Support the Senior Associate – Finance and Online Communities in managing budgeting and expenses for UK staff and European and other consultants; and;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: (Required). Bachelor degree in Communications, English Language or related field;
- Work Experience: (Required). 1-2 years of professional work experience;
- Computer Skills: (Required). Strong computer skills (e.g Microsoft Office Suite, basic analytical tools, basic online research skills); must be literate in social media platforms;
- Technical Skills/ Qualifications/Certifications: Having an understanding of a fast moving communications and marketing environment is desirable.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English language skills; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster positive working relationships with diverse internal and external individuals; ability to work to deadlines.
- Foreign Language Skills: Working knowledge of other European languages such as French and German desirable;
- General Work Behaviours/Skills/: Dependability, diplomacy and ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong organizational skills and efficiency in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Physical Demands: (if applicable). Occasional lifting and carrying boxes of marketing materials.
Salary:
