The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as ICRAF) in Southeast Asia isthe region’s leading agroforestry research-in-development organization whichgenerates science-based knowledge about thecomplex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. Aspart of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty andenvironmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration withpartners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendationsfor increased food security and ecosystem health.

The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and researchis conducted in 34 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We aresupported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research(CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.

About the position The Officer is responsible for the financial management of grants from start-up through close-out. The incumbent will ensure proper financial management, accountability, planning, and reporting in alignment with ICRAF policies and procedures, the goals of the grant and the provisions of the grant agreement. The officer will provide detailed financial analysis, help strengthen reporting systems and process development, training and support.
The applicant must demonstrate strong experience in sub-grantee management, including building the capacity of local organizations and sub grantees in areas of grant compliance, financial reporting, and accountability. Coaching, advising, and enforcement are essential functions of this position. The applicant will provide detailed financial analysis, reporting, system and process development, training and support to international program funding.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Financial Management
  • At least 5 years of accounting and grants management experience
  • At least 2 year experience managing staff
  • Excellent command of Excel
  • Strong background in financial management systems
  • Experience in using Agresso Financial system is advantage

  • Good written and oral English proficiency

  • Demonstrates a good attitude in customer service orientation
  • Knowledgeof business; experience in all aspects of donor cycle
  • MS office: excel, word, access, power point, project manager

  • Possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in banking and financial services setting
  • Possess a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to various situations
