DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
- Assist Female Medical Officer in conducting daily OPD,
- Deal with emergency obstetrics care cases during evening and night shifts,
- Screen out high risk pregnancies and complicated cases, and refer them to the nearest hospital/clinic designated by the organization as per referral protocols,
- Enter all patient relevant data in respective registers e.g. OPD/Delivery/PNC registers etc,
- Conduct safe and clean normal delivery as per WHO/DOH guidelines,
- Ensure every woman delivered in BHU receives a hygiene kit, new born kit and a mosquito bed net,
- Disseminate information to delivered female about importance of breast feeding, routine vaccination, care of cord, personal hygiene and nutrition etc,
- Supervise & develop the capacity of TBAs through on job coaching,
- Ensure all PLWs attending OPD are screened for under nutrition and referred to the nearest nutrition centre for management,
- Refer pregnant women for TT vaccination to the EPI centre,
- Disseminate proper information and guide patients on danger signs of pregnancy and reason for a case referral to a secondary or tertiary care level health facility,
- Update Female Medical Officer on last evening/night deliveries, referrals, distribution of kits to mother/new born,
- Manage and maintain a proper record of kits distributed among delivered women/new born during her duty hours/shift,
- On arrival at duty, take over a proper charge of medicine, all kind of kits, cleaning items etc from the duty staff nurse/LHV,
- On arrival at duty, take a quick round of the MCH centre to ensure proper cleaning of MCH centre,
- Perform routine lab tests (HB, Blood Grouping, Urine R/E etc) through rapid diagnostic test kits,
- Prepare and submit a weekly work plan to her supervisor,
- Participate in capacity building trainings organized by Malteser International or any partner organization,
- Attend staff meetings organized on weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis at BHU or project office,
- Respect organizational policies/rules,
- Follow proper chain of command and communication within the organization,
- Any other job related task assigned by the Supervisor (s).
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Desirable:
- Degree/Diploma of Nursing/LHV from a reputable and recognized institute,
- Registered with PNC and holding a valid registration card,
- Minimum five (05) years’ experience working in a Labor Room/MNCH Centre,
- Ability to work independently/as a team and demonstrate flexibility, motivation, and maturity.
- Any further training received in MNCH/IMNCI will be ideal,
- Knowledge of Pashto language,
- Familiar with local traditions and culture,
- Local female of respective areas fulfilling the desired criterion will be preferred.
