Orangutan Foundation Volunteer Programme 2017 - Tropical forest. Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo

Now in its 17th year the Orangutan Foundation Volunteer Programme is like no other. Not only will you carry out essential hands-on conservation work but you will also see the critically endangered orangutan in its natural habitat.

Date: 24th July - 14th August (arrival and departure dates in/out of Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia Borneo).

Location: Tropical forest. Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo.

Project: A conservation-based project to renovate PONDOK AMBUNG RESEARCH STATION?, situated within Tanjung Puting National Park. This Research Station enables the Foundation to carry out vital conservation-focused research on the ecology of the park and the biodiversity that exists within. Participating in this project will provide a unique opportunity to experience conservation fieldwork whilst living in orangutan habitat! 

Includes a tour of Tanjung Puting National Park (guaranteed sightings of orangutans) and Camp Leakey.

The Volunteer Programme not only helps the Orangutan Foundation in the field but it also provides a base of committed supporters. Past volunteers all agree that taking part was an unforgettable and amazing experience. Many have gone on to have a successful career in wildlife conservation.

Cost: £700 - includes all construction materials, meals, accommodation and local transport from the 24th July to departure on the 14th August. Price excludes international flights. Places are limited.

Note: There is no hands-on contact with orangutans.
