Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building key partnerships with local government, the private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership.

CHILD PROTECTION ADVISOR

1 position based in Jakarta

ROLE PURPOSE:
The post holder shares the accountability to build the most positive and affirming work environment possible and ensure that the management, staffing and culture of the organisation are suitably aligned with the mission, evolving goals and strategic ambitions aligned with the Membership Accountability Framework.

The post holder is a member of the Extended Management Team (EMT), may be invited to lead or participate in cross functional groups and will participate in EMT meetings as planned.

The post holder will also be responsible and accountable to lead or contribute to the standards as noted in the Prospect Member Framework as follows:
  • Lead in developing high quality Child Protection programs which are evidence based and contribute to establishing and functioning of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning mechanisms that support implementation at scale.
  • Contributing to the development of strong partnerships
  • Contribute to effective advocacy for children at the international and national level in line with Theory of Change
  • Effectively support the successful pilot of the Prospect Member project in Indonesia
  • Helping to build a strong brand for the organization by ensuring compliance with global brand procedures and awareness of brand in local market.
  • Contribute to ensuring financial sustainability and growth orientation in the funding portfolio..
  • The post holder will lead on achievement of the global KPIs On time and Quality reporting for Child Protection programs, as well as Awards, Risks and Financial Management and Operations Delivery when applicable (when assigned a role of a budget holder
  • In addition, the post holder will also have the following accountabilities:
  • Contribute to the development of strong relationships with the Board, donors, international agencies and local NGO/civil society organisations. 
  • Represent the Yayasan, when necessary with external stakeholders and parties.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s degree on social welfare, law, policy, child protection, human rights, social science or equivalent fields
  • 5+ years working experience with preferably experience on program development, monitoring and evaluation, policy research and advocacy in a given or broader field related to child protection
  • Experiences working with high level government agencies, civil societies, NGOs and academics on issues related to child protection is desirable
  • Knowledge of project management cycle and experience in project design and proposal development
  • Experience in doing research and providing technical support in child protection or related area 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken Indonesian, strong English written and spoken skills.
  • Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches
