ChildFund has been operating in Indonesia since 1973. It has its National Office in South Jakarta and 2 zonal offices. The first zonal office is located in Jakarta, whilst the second zonal office is located in Kupang, Eastern Indonesia. The program is approximately 5 m $ per year. Most of these funds come primarily from child sponsorship and grants. Engaging with communities, local and national Government and ministries in the sector of Child Protection, Education, Health, Emergency Response, Disaster Risk Reduction, Food Security, Livelihoods Gender, ChildFund has program in 8 provinces, 32 districts and 173 villages in Indonesia, with 432,615 children and having benefited from this program.

ChildFund Indonesia works in partnership with community based organizations and other strategic stakeholders throughout Indonesia to suppport children and youth who are Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable (DEV) so that they can improve their lives and become young adults, parents and leaders who will bring lasting and positive change in their communities. More specifically, ChildFund Indonesia supports these children in their different life stages towards becoming:

  • Healthy and Secured Infants – Lifestage 1 (LS 1)
  • Educated and Confident Children – Lifestage 2 (LS 2)
  • Skilled and Involved Youth – Lifestage 3 (LS 3)

ChildFund Indonesia is currently seeking:

Position: Education in Emergency Specialist   
Reporting to: Project Manager SER
Based in: Palu
Duration: 6 months

SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to provide technical and programme support to ChildFund Indonesia education in emergencies activities in Sulawesi Province. Lead the coordination, oversight and development of strategies, action plans and other relevant and required documents, provide technical expertise in support of achieving results, working with the education cluster and other programme sections in Sulawesi Emergency Response.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to Emergency Response Programmes by supporting knowledge management on Education in Emergencies (EiE) through providing professional assistance in data collection and analysis, complete and accurate reporting as well as participation in education cluster system.
  • Provide professional technical assistance on EiE in the preparation of the Analysis for programme development and management by collecting and analyzing data and monitoring implementation progress. Contribute to the identification of critical intervention points and measures by administering a consistent and transparent monitoring system; Draft or prepare programme work plans as required. Propose adjustments/changes in work plans. Propose program recommendations for inclusion in formal programme documentation, and new approaches, methods and practices for supervisor.
  • Undertakes field visits to monitor and assess programme implementation and decides on required corrective action.
  • Facilitate partnership and collaboration with internal and external counterparts, including implementing partners, in order to improve the ability to collect and disseminate data and information, exchange information on programme/project status and implementation and movement/distribution of supplies. Provide professional support in provision of technical advice, negotiation and advocacy
  • In liaison with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Specialist, facilitates periodic monitoring of project activities and uses findings to strengthen the organizations program strategy.
  • Develops and implements mechanisms, systems and processes, to foster organizational learning for ongoing enhancement for ChildFund Indonesia’s staff and Local Partners.
  • Ensures that lessons learned from education in emergency and other relevant activities are identified, documented and appropriately disseminated for internal and external purposes, e.g. development of knowledge products.
  • Ensures timely submission and compliance of ChildFund’s report requirements.
  • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Proven record in implementing education progammes, preferably in emergency context, min five years’ field experience
  • Experience in project cycle management
  • Good knowledge of and experience in INEE Minimum Standards and with the Education Cluster
  • Experience in program design and proposal development (concept notes)
  • Proven ability to implement participatory training and capacity building;
  • Proven ability to secure funding from public and private funding streams. Proven skills in report/proposal writing
  • Experience of conducting education needs assessments, preferably in emergency context
  • Experience in implementing Disaster Risk Reducation (DRR) programs is highly valued.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, team player, self-starter and results-oriented individual.
  • Proven ability to offer technical support
  • Experience of capacity building on education
  • Experience of designing and delivering training
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using Microsoft Office suite applications (particularly Word and PowerPoint).
EDUCATION
University Degree in education or Master Degree related fields relevant to education and child development, such as education or social work is preferred.
