We are looking for a Biological Assessment Advisor to join our Biological Assessments team in Perth (with occasional site travel) on a 24 month fixed term contract. This role is a great opportunity for a motivated, safety-conscious professional to join a multi-disciplined team; applying knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guides to Pilbara-focused environmental approvals and associated surveys.

Reporting to the Specialist Biological Assessments, you will:
  • Independently lead biological surveys in remote Pilbara areas.
  • Undertake effective survey planning including, sampling design, logistics, and health and safety.
  • Prepare technical reports, data, analysis, and provide technical advice to support government and environmental approval requirements.
Contribute to the development and improvement of biological assessment methods, processes, and technologies to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and technical specialists.
  • Contribute toward an inclusive culture through collaboration with peers across the broader Environmental Approvals team.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in botany/zoology/ ecology/environmental science or related.
  • Demonstrated experience as a field botanist/biologist, ideally within the resources sector.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills coupled with an ability to think on your feet and make sound rational decisions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to quickly develop positive and robust relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS
  • Experience/awareness of remote sensing techniques and environmental applications
